Academy Awards pledges $6 Million amid pandemic

Academy Awards has pledged $6 Million to tackle coronavirus outbreak.

The Academy has set up a $6 million donation to help support motion picture employees and their families affected by the ongoing pandemic, and to support those institutions focused on fostering diverse new filmmakers.

The Academy will also contribute an additional $2 million to the Academy Foundation’s Grants Program which aims to open new paths for storytellers from different backgrounds.

The Academy pledges that all of this relief will take effect immediately.
